How Much Does Hospital Management Software Cost in Nigeria? (2026 Naira Guide)

A plain-English guide to what hospital management software actually costs in Nigeria in 2026 — pricing models, what drives the number up or down, and the questions to ask before you sign.

"How much does it cost?" is the first question every clinic owner asks about hospital management software — and the hardest one to get a straight answer to. Most vendors hide behind "contact sales." This guide gives you the honest version: how pricing actually works in Nigeria, what moves the number, and what to check before you commit.

The common pricing models

Hospital and clinic software in Nigeria is usually priced one of three ways:

  • Per-month subscription (SaaS). You pay a recurring monthly or annual fee. No big upfront cost, updates and hosting included. This is the modern, cloud-native model.
  • Pay-once licence. A large one-time fee for a self-hosted install. Cheaper-looking on paper, but you carry the server, backups, security and updates yourself (see our cloud-vs-self-hosted guide).
  • Per-user or per-bed. Some vendors charge per staff login or per bed, which punishes you for growing.

A trap to watch for: "per-patient" pricing. A system that charges by patient volume gets more expensive exactly as your clinic succeeds.

What actually drives the price

Two clinics rarely pay the same, because the number is driven by:

  1. Size and setup — number of locations, staff and departments.
  2. Modules you need — a single GP clinic needs less than a hospital running pharmacy, lab, theatre, dialysis and an ICU.
  3. Specialty depth — dental, eye, mental health, physiotherapy and critical-care modules add capability beyond the core.
  4. Onboarding and support — data migration, training and the level of support included.

This is why a flat published price grid is usually misleading — it either over-charges the small clinic or under-serves the hospital.

How DawaHQ prices it

DawaHQ uses a transparent, configuration-based model: plans start at ₦25,000/month, you pick a bundle (Clinic Starter, Clinic Pro or Hospital Suite), add the specialty modules you actually need, and get a custom quote for your setup. No per-patient fees, no lock-in, and a free trial so you can see it before you pay. HMO/NHIA claims, EMR and billing are part of the core — not bolt-ons you discover later.

Questions to ask any vendor before you sign

  • Is the price per clinic, per user, or per patient?
  • What is included vs. an add-on — is HMO billing extra? Is support extra?
  • Is there a setup/onboarding fee, and what does it cover?
  • Can I cancel, and do I keep my data if I leave?
  • Is it cloud (no server to maintain) or self-hosted (you maintain it)?
  • Does it handle Nigerian realities — Naira billing, Paystack, HMO/NHIA claims, NDPA compliance?

The cheapest sticker price is rarely the cheapest system to run. Weigh the monthly fee against the revenue a good system recovers — fewer missed charges, fewer rejected HMO claims, less time lost to paperwork.
